What Kind of Parents Take Their Kids Shopping on Black Friday? - Blog Entry

01 Dec 2008 09:28 AM

While we don't get up at 4am, we do leave the house around 6am and it's a family tradition. Why? Because we enjoy that day together and because we have traditionally taken that day to take our kids to buy things for others. We could do it another day--but that's the day with the sales and the day my spouse has off. It's horrible that a man got trampled and even more horrible that people wouldn't leave the store. Obviously we wouldn't do that. . .but we are the kind of parents that take our children shopping during the early morning hours the day after Thanksgiving.

Oh gosh--gotta disagree! We always do Black Friday Sales. We make a list of what we're getting people (and we rarely stray from it) and generally stay in one vicinity or one place like the mall. We get the best deals, but we do it bc that's the day we let our kids go shopping adn get for other people.

Guide to the Rotavirus Vaccine - Blog Entry

I have one child that reacts to vaccines and has reacted to them since early, early on. I've never had one react to a vaccine at 3 or 4 when she didn't react at 3mos. I vote the germy office. ;-)

I still won't get it for my children either. However, something that you didn't point out (maybe your source didn't point it out though) is that they started targeting the Rotavirus vaccine towards those who are at risk of being hospitalized from rotavirus. Babies who were preemies and other immuno-compromised children. Makes sense and it makes sense that you'd see such dramatic results from that as well.

That's like when I went to France and Italy and children were allowed sips of wine at dinner. It's cultural. . .I won't shoot you. ;-)

LOL Samual I'm teasing you. I do not believe your medical is below third world standards but I do think that you come up with some funny stuff. And yes, you are right. . .we are extra special in that regard. We Americans manage to do that all over the place--spend way too much money and yield very little results. ;-)

Again, you've done nothing to reassure me that should I ever visit the UK and have a medical emergency, that I'd actually make it out alive. ;-) Sorry to say but true. A few sips is not a big deal. . .this article was about parents who have mistakenly believed that they must give a bottle of water to young infants when its hot or when they otherwise suspect the child is thirsty. Probably not going to starve your child if you give one bottle on a hot, hot day--but neither is bottles full of water helpful. And it's definitely not necessary according to the AAP.

Thanks. This blog is about giving baby water in addition to and/or to supplement formula or breastmilk. Babywaterinc is for water to put into formula. Using a specially formulated, 7 step process for water STILL does not make it a safe supplement. Water should never be used as a supplement. But if someone wants to put purified water in their formula instead of making it with tap then that's a great source.
