My main shopping is at Aldis where I save so much money & I do not have to find a million coupons. If they do not have what I need I will go to Save-A-Lot as they will normally have what I am looking for. There are still a few things I pick up at Meijer but I always shop their 11 for $10 sales & use coupons for even more savings. I feed 5 adults & one child on $400 a month & sometimes less with good sales. I do use coupons & sales to get my toiletries for free or almost free at Walgreen's, rite Aid or CVS. Baby Taken from Church Nursery: What Would You Do? - Blog Entry22 Jun 2009 11:12 AM I live about 5 miles away from where this happend. There have been things that go on in & outside that church before. For one a murder last year in the parking lot. I will not go to that area as I deem it unsafe. If my gut tells me something is wrong I follow that feeling. I am not to conserned if I hurt someones feelings if it has to do with my child or families safty. How to Reduce Your Air Conditioning Cost - Blog Entry17 Jun 2009 11:06 AM We stopped using the window air contitioner in our upstairs last year. It gets cool enough at night that a window fan works just fine for us. Only time it is a little to warm is when it is raining and we need to shut the windows so rain dont get in. Then we use a floor fan to keep the air moving to help keep us feeling cooler. I only turn the unit on down stairs when it gets over 85 degrees outside or it is very hummid out. With window fans my home stays about 75 to 77 degrees when it is 80 to 83 out. This has helped us save so much on our elelctric bill and we are very cumpfy in our home... Frugal Picnic Night - Blog Entry15 Jun 2009 09:32 AM Man, now I miss having my kids home again. Empty Nest Syndrome!!!! We use to do that all the time! I was a single mom with 3 boys. Had to find cheap ways to keep the kids happy in the summer. We normally did cold fried chicken (Left over from night before) or each made their own sack lunch of their choice of what we had in fridge or freezer. They loved it and I see they are doing it with their own kids still LOL!!!! Frugal Living Can Be a Blessing - Blog Entry23 May 2009 10:43 AM I lost my job over a year ago and that is when I started living the frugal life. I have found that even without a job and very little unemployment I can do just as much as I did before & more. I am able to have more time with my kids & grandkids. I now have the whole family over once a month for a cook out in the summer & sunday dinner in the winter. Even when I worked I never had the money or the time to do that. I spent my money on things I did not really need. I would say it has helped me become closer to my family and who can ask for more then that!!! Easy Food to Cook from Scratch - Blog Entry20 May 2009 03:06 PM Thank you very much. I will try it to see how well it works for me... Easy Food to Cook from Scratch - Blog Entry20 May 2009 06:45 AM Oh that sounds like a great way to do it... Do you have any good recipes that you can share? I have none and can't seem to find one basic that would work for all of them. Easy Food to Cook from Scratch - Blog Entry19 May 2009 11:09 AM I bake my own chickens & make my own stocks. This has saved me lots of money over the years. I have to admit I do still buy bread at Aldi's or the bread outlet store for my husband's lunches but for dinner bread, I make it myself. I have yet tried making my own cream soups but want to soon. I love your blogs and look forward to the new ones every day!!! 1 2 |
