His natural mink coloration was just gorgeous. He was a very dominant cat in my multi-cat household and was very much a "man's cat". He was social enough with me, but really preferred the company of my husband and even other men who visited our home. He had a tendency to over-eat when food was left free-choice -- let me tell you that an over-weight on a Tonk really ruins their otherwise svelte appearance. I also feel compelled to mention that he had a rather musky odor that I have never noted on another cat (he was neutered as a kitten). He really was a delightful pet. Hold That Toyger Cat! : Jungle Beauty11 Nov 2008 08:44 PM I have a new Toyger kitten who is just the sweetest kitten you've ever seen. Well, the other cats may disagree at times since he will yowl at them if they approach the food dish, while he is eating, but otherwise he gets along great with my other cats. He loves to settle down and sleep under the covers in my bed during the night, so you get plenty of snuggle time with him. During the day, he really doesn't want to slow down from his agenda of things to do! The Somali: Exquisite Beauty and Brains Too!11 Nov 2008 08:30 PM I have three wonderful Somali cats. They are a pleasure to live with. They are active & love to play with you with a cat wand toy. Two of mine are quite "in-your-face" cats, and are certain to make themselves a part of everything you are doing. They are very devoted cats. They tend to love everyone, but will often have a favorite person that they choose to take special care of -- have you had your hair groomed by a cat lately? They are also sensitive cats, and can have their feelings hurt if they feel rejected by their special person. They do tend to get a case of the crazies and race about the house just before time for the lights to go out. |
