Public Schools vs. Private Schools Courtesy of the Department of Education - Blog Entry17 Jul 2006 06:15 AM Great points Sherry and Queen Angie. There has been a lot of talk about "teaching to the test" or teaching the students what will be on the standardized test they will take that year. When this occurs children learn a lot of facts, but not necessarily the skill of how to learn. This is a great skill for impressing friends whilde playing trivial pursuit, and being on Jeopardy, but not very helpful to kids in the long run. What is a Separation? - Blog Entry05 Jul 2006 10:57 AM Gillian, I take issue with your faulty description of seperation. In most states, seperation is a required step in the divorce process. For example in Virginia a couple needs to live apart for at least six months before divorce proceedings can occur. Women who are in abusive situations should seperate from their husbands and not feel guilty about it after reading your comments that they just really don't want to work on the problems in their marriage. I think your description is very simplistic and does not take into account real life dynamics that play in to many marriages that end due to adultery, abuse, neglect, imprisonment or a myriad of other real life factors. Yes it takes two to make a relationship work, but it only takes one to completely destroy it. Do I think that people divorce too quickly today-yes I do. I also recognize that seperation can be the first step toward reconciliation. You wrote-"If you are thinking about separating from your spouse, you should know that when couples separate it is almost never that they get back together." Can you back up your claim with proof or statistics? Your article seems very judgemental and extremely naive. Almost like a Cinnabon - Blog Entry30 Jun 2006 10:30 AM mmm... yum yummy recipe Libby.
