It would mess up the page and he'd start over :-). Any chance that he's drawing his letters rather than writing them? (Mine does.) I've started letting him do most of his work on the computer. Instant feedback for misspelled letters (in Word) and it's SO much quicker. Labeling a child is a scary thing; I'd be afraid it would come back to bite him later.
