But I'm more apt to offer help than out-and-out criticism. As in, "Would you like me to hold your baby so you can take care of your son?" (who is pushing the grocery cart into the backside of the elderly man in front of him). What I probably really mean is, "Lady, if you ignore that child who's acting like a brat, he's only going to get worse." Your situation was a unique one. Unfortunately, many parents today let their children run wild with no boundaries at all. I think far fewer of these instances are "bad days" than bad parenting. I got through on personality and family ties (my brother had the same class two years earlier and missed four questions the whole year.) Fortunately, we have an excellent science teacher in the area whom I'll be sending mine to for the lab credit. I like your idea of taking the foreign language together. We're doing Latin, and starting Japanese in the fall. I love homeschooling because of the flexibility it provides to meet their needs. It doesn't always have to be me. The only reason I'd ever leave mine would be a pattern of infidelity, which I don't see happening. I think sometimes people give up too easily.
