I always ask the kids who come to the door if it's for a government school (it almost always is). Then I show them my tax bill. I'm polite. Free lesson in economics for them :-).

Good tips, Mary Ann. We buy our farm fresh eggs from a friend for $3/dozen. That might not sound frugal EXCEPT that her free-range, well-fed chickens lay very tasty eggs! dh can tell the difference in his omelets and salads. I cracked them side-by-side with store-bought and there's no comparison with the richness of the yellow and the size of the yolks. I'm using half as many in recipes. And they MUST be healthier :-); don't have evidence for that, but I'm sure they are.

US Code Title 36, Chapter, 10, Section 176, subparagraph (d) The flag should never be used as wearing apparel, bedding, or drapery.
