How nice that your church funds them! I shelled out over $200 for David to go to summer camp this year. Well, he covered about $80 in fundraising, but we had to come up with the rest. It was worth it though ;-).

One more use - we shoot for recreation. Old doors make great backstops for those 100 yard out targets!

Are Extended Warranties Worth It?

02 Aug 2007 10:44 AM

Hooray! Thank you for including those exceptions. Most frugal sites say to never purchase an extended warranty. As a GENERAL rule, I'd agree. However, we have a Neptune washer (I love it!). There are so many reports of the circuit board dying just out of warranty. So we are paying $70/yr for an extended warranty. Sounds like a lot, but we figure it will probably be $210 before the board needs replaced -- a $400 replacement. We also have extended warranties on the treadmill (Paul runs 150 miles a month, and we've used it twice), the air conditioner (because it's a second story window and an in-home repair warranty), and the vacuum cleaner. What? An extended warranty on a $50 vacuum cleaner? Yep. We vacuum every day and with 3 dogs and 7 people, it gets a workout. We've had it replaced twice - for free.

Good blog, Mary Ann!
