That's real love for her -- being willing to sacrifice your friendship for her safety.

A Little Can Bring Great Blessing

Good article. I'm happy to be an "elbow" in the Body, and don't need to be the mouthpiece or the muscles :-).

Why I Wouldn't Wish Twins on Anyone

02 Aug 2007 10:13 AM

My brothers are twins. And my mom had a nursing two year old at the time. Fortunately, she also had girls 14, 13, and 12. We were on year-round school, so we each took a different track, and on the fourth, we missed school every third day. It worked out great. We also each had an "assigned" baby for nights and weekends. I can't imagine doing it without extra help.

Do Video Games Affect Schoolwork? A New Study Says Yes

02 Aug 2007 10:07 AM

My 14 year old and I had this discussion a few days ago. Unfortunately, he was armed with good points. lol. He plays Rome: Total War. From it, he knows more of Rome's history than I do (and I teach Latin). Additionally, he has become a master in the art of Diplomacy. He also plays Guild Wars. His arguments there were that his spelling and typing have improved tenfold (they have), and that he is learning about Economics, Business, and teamwork. I think they must have a section on the games about convincing your parents ;-). If I didn't regulate it, they WOULD be on 24/7. I know this because I gave them a free week awhile back and they spent it on gaming. We are an "after 5" family. I figure the games take the place of television (they watch almost none).

GPS May Cause Taxi Strike

I'm going to have to agree with the cabbies. If it really was something that would help them, the taxi companies would do it themselves - without government intervention.

If You Knew Then, What You Know Now ....

Good article. I think, though, that there ARE a few occasions I would change ;-).

Great advice, Sherry! We also use this time to stock up on supplies to send overseas through AnySoldier.com

The Frugal Washing Machine

30 Jul 2007 03:48 PM

I only use 1/2 the amount of recommended detergent. Hasn't made any difference in the cleanliness. I also use different detergents -- a name-brand one for my son's pants that have been worn for four days straight :-(, a generic for most of our clothes, and a baby-soft one for dh's expensive shirts.
