17 Apr 2009 10:32 PM The 2-weeks before my LapBand surgeryOk, I promised I would talk about my 80 pound weightloss journey. As I said, I had the Lapband procedure done in April 07, so two years ago. Wow! I'm just realizing how fast time has gone by since having my surgery. Anyhow, the two weeks before my surgery were the hardest part of the journey. Imagine, being told that you pretty much have to drink nothing but liquid for two weeks prior to having the surgery. When I heard that part of the pre-op instructions, I don't think I heard another word out of my doctor's mouth after that. Here I was over 100 pounds overweight and being told that I can't eat solid food for an entire 2 weeks. What?! Come again! When I finally came back from zoning out, I heard the doctor say, "do you have any question?" I'm trying to put a light spin on what proved to be a very challenging 2 weeks. I had to still cook for my family, although I couldn't eat myself. Also, it seemed as though every food commercial on tv was talking to me.If I never see another protein liquid shake, it'll be too soon. Although, I didn't think I would make it some of those days, I did! I followed the doctor's instruction to remain on the liquid diet , as I didn't want to be noncompliant and risk having my surgery postponed. The good news is, I got a head start on my weightloss during this time. I lost about 10 pounds going into surgery which I was very happy about. Stay tuned for my post-op posts...
