Co Sleeping With Baby Number Two Part II

Employing the use of the co sleeper when our son insisted on sleeping with us was an utter failure. While we had the mini co sleeper attached to our bed it still dropped down four or five inches. I could not simply nurse our daughter in the side laying position and shove her over and down into the co sleeper. She clearly preferred sleeping next to me rather than in her own separate space. From that point on, I did not try to use the co sleeper for night time. I ended up putting it downstairs and using it for … Continue reading

Co Sleeping With Baby Number Two Part I

In preparations from our daughter’s birth and my intention to continue with our decision to co sleep with our children, I purchased a mini co sleeper that could be attached to the side of the bed. We realized that it would be very difficult to have both children in our bed with us. I did not want to kick our son out of our bed; I truly enjoy having him with us and knowing that he was doing well. He is such a sweet little man and has the habit of giving me hugs and kisses before he falls asleep … Continue reading

Co Sleeping with Baby Number One Part II

With more confidence in co sleeping (although I had more experience with the co than the sleeping bit… I was one tired mommy), I figured that it was time to try nursing in the side laying position. Once the breastfeeding pain had largely diminished and when my son was more sturdy (around three or four weeks). We ventured into the wonderful world of baby nursing while mommy can fall asleep in a more comfortable position (laying down instead of sitting up). This worked well and I was finally getting some sleep without having to get out of bed or sit … Continue reading

Co-Sleeping

Sometimes I hate to admit it, but I sleep with my baby, almost every night. My husband thinks I put Johnny into his own bassinet, and just bring him into our bed when he’s ready to nurse, but this isn’t always the case. Actually, it’s rarely the case. I like having him near to me. In reality, it lets me sleep better because I can hear him breathing and feel him moving. When he’s in his bassinet in the next room, I find myself waking up every hour or two to go check on him, making sure he’s alright. And … Continue reading

Reality Check – Working During Nap Time Does Not Always Work

It is often useful to stop and think about whether things are going the way that you would like them to go for your home-based business. Today I realized that for months, I have been doing something that has been causing me a lot of stress. I am not sure why today was the day that I realized what I had been doing – it sure would have been useful to realize it and correct it earlier, but I guess it’s better late than never. What was I doing to stress myself out? I was scheduling myself to work during … Continue reading

Having Trouble Sleeping? (2)

In our previous blog on better sleeping habits (see link below), we looked at the importance of getting up at the same time each day, including weekends, and the detrimental effects of electronic appliances such as televisions in the bedroom. Today we’ll look at more tips for getting the health and beauty sleep that you need. 3. Declutter your bedroom Is your bed a rumpled mess with sheets half pulled off and blankets tossed onto the floor? Does the rest of your bedroom look like a hurricane’s been through it? Be honest, would you have trouble knowing whether a burglar … Continue reading

Rethink Those Sleeping Arrangements

I don’t mean the sleeping arrangements for your baby although it would be logical to assume so. What I mean is the sleeping arrangements for your older children. Let me explain further. When we found out we were having not one baby but two babies, we decided that we needed bunk beds for the girls and a loft bed for our son. The ‘play room’ (if you can call it that) is under the loft bed and this is the only play space the kids have. (If you’re not familiar with living arrangements in New York City just trust me … Continue reading

Well, Here I Am Again …

Good morning, it feels strange to be sitting down and typing. I know it’s only been a few days since I was last here posting my thoughts, my workouts, my research and more, but it’s been a very long few days for me. For those of you who read my blogs regularly, you know that I was scheduled for surgery just three days ago. The surgery was exploratory in nature, designed to go in and examine the mass they found on my right ovary. The last few weeks had given me plenty of time to think ahead to the surgery … Continue reading

Baby’s Proper Sleeping Position

For a long time, doctors, pediatricians, and grandmothers have advised new mothers to place a new baby on his or her stomach. As the baby sleeps, he/she seems so comfortable. While this was the way for placing a baby down to sleep for hundreds of years, new study now shows that problems can occur when the child’s nose and mouth are turned face down. Sometimes, a newborn does not have strong enough neck muscles to turn the head, sadly leading to suffocation. Because of this problem, many experts now believe Sudden Infant Death Syndrome or SIDS is directly related to … Continue reading
