I have one of those little Xpress 101 units and it will take the burrito (2 at a time) and heat it before the meal. In fact, I have found the unit works better with wraps than trying to cook up something in the cavities themselves as things sometimes stick.

I have one of those inexpensive thermometers that I use to check my older side-by-side. It has the safety settings right on it - for 40F and 0F. So far both the freezer and the fridge part is right on the money - if your unit is much higher than that, then you either need to change the settings on it or, if you can't get it down to the right temperature, perhaps either have it serviced or think about getting a new one.

Food safety is my most important concern in the kitchen!

Hi, Thanks for the idea to do rice in the crockpot. I made chili yesterday (I like to let it sit in the fridge for a day to blend flavors before using it) and I want to have it over rice so I thought I would try the rice in the crockpot thingy. I am using a regular rice recipe but cooking it on low until ready.
