Low-fat Black Bean Tortilla Casserole - Blog Entry28 May 2006 08:24 AM I stopped eating meat a couple of months ago, and I'm always looking for good vegetarian recipes. This one sounds great! The Rice Diet probably isn't for everyone, and the first day is a real killer. But, if you like veggies and grains and can live without alot of meat, you can definitely lose weight with this diet! As with most diets, you lose alot of water at the beginning (especially since you are restricting sodium), but that's fine with me, too-- I don't want to pack on tons of water weight! Turkish Breakfast - Blog Entry24 May 2006 07:38 AM Actually, I think ful is the Arabic word for fava beans. They ususally slow cook the beans and serve them with an assortment of chopped veggies-- tomatoes, green onions, cucumbers, etc.-- and sliced lemons. This is usually presented at the breakfast table along with the bread, cheeses, and jams. It's a bit heavier, so I don't eat it everday, but it is tasty. Turkish Breakfast - Blog Entry23 May 2006 09:33 PM My hubby is Egyptian, and we have the same type of breakfasts at home. Sometimes we'll also have a big platter of scrambled egg and a bowl of beans (ful) added to the mix. I don't know if the Turks eat ful, but it's very tasty. Great way to start the day. As for the sausage, have you tried Halal or Middle Eastern stores? We buy sausage at the local Halal grocer, and I'm thinking it's quite similar to what you describe... |
