Well, I'm all for helping orphans and needy children, but Simpson seems to have a lot of wild oats left to sow. I have no problem with the air-head factor. For one thing, she can't possibly be dumb-- no idiot could have built such a vast empire so quickly. Besides, stupid people have kids all the time. My only concern is that she, like many her age, seems to be in party mode, in "let's think about me" mode. I'm not sure that's what a child needs, especially a child who's already been hurt. But, if and when she's ready to settle down and devote herself to a child, more power to her.

Heather, I agree with much of want you said. And I can't say I have never spanked. It is something that I try to never, ever do, but I've had my moments.

Rachel, I understand your point, too. Yes, kids do hit, bite, and kick. But how can a parent tell the child NOT to do those things if the parent does them?

One of your best, Nicki! We know that kids are sponges, that they learn from what they see. Why is it so surprising when kids who are spanked hit others? That's what they see; that's what they learn. They learn to exert their authority on those who are smaller or weaker. They learn that we get our way by hitting.

Leisa, you're right-- it is sad. I think the real gap that exists is between "Islam in theory" and "Islam in practice." On paper Islam really is about peace and tolerance. It's when people twist words to justify their own bloody actions that we get in trouble. I don't deny that their are radical Muslims. I am just trying to let readers know that these murderess actions may be committed by Muslims, but they have nothing to do with Islam. Thanks for your kind words. I, too, hope my words don't get me in trouble. :)

You hit the nail on the head! Mutual respect is so very important in marriage, and life in general. Plus, words like "never" or "always" are generalizations. And they are NEVER true! I think it's best to avoid broad statements and focus on the issue at hand.

This is somethig I do with my husband. I send love messages by text messages. Sometimes I do pretend it's from a stranger and he goes along. Sure, he knows it's me, but it's fun to flirt with a stranger sometimes! It spices things up, but more importantly, it makes us feel special. After almost 10 years and 3 kids, it's important to keep the spark alive.

Heather, thanks for your comments. I'm okay with people disagreeing with me (I'm used to that!), but I can't tolerate lies. Not that cholcolm is lying, but that site is dishonest. I read the site. Where they quote Koran, they either take bits and pieces and misinterpret them, or they take it completely out of context. That is neither fair nor honest. And the "hadiths"??? I have books of hadith... those hadiths are no where in there! They seem like pure fiction. That site clearly has one purpose-- to discredit Islam. If you want to argue Islam, argue Islam and not fiction.
