I'm Not Sorry, I'm Thankful - Blog Entry

25 May 2007 04:54 PM

Aloha Michele,

It seems a lot of single parents go back to school to get a higher education. There is just no way that a single parent can raise their children with minimum wage even with government help. Getting a higher education can also boost self esteem. Even if the single parent didn't lack self esteem to begin with it just adds to self esteem because you're doing something with your life that is worthwhile.

I'm attending college as well but my degree and experiences gained from college will be and are being used to build my home based business. I love being able to be at home with my children and making the money I need to care for them at the same time. Homeschooling is something I'd love to do too.

Thanks for your article!

Aloha!

I forgot! Humming also helps me and I learned how to do this from my children. That's how I found this site, I was researching anything about humming and its calming affect on stress. I even posted on the Mental Health blog about it.

Wanted: Tips for How to Achieve Balance! - Blog Entry

22 May 2007 12:06 PM

Aloha Kori,

Yes, this is a daily thing to stay balanced in order to achieve the super single WAHM duties of the day. Well, I'm not balanced every day but when I am in my balanced mode things are just GREAT! When I'm not, like yesterday, I really concentrate on saying to myself and sometimes out loud everything I'm thankful for. That somehow reigns me in so I don't go into a panic mode because the laundry is piled high, the dishes are stacked in the sink, and dinner still needs to be cooked. And you know what? Here I am this morning as fine as can be. I survived yesterday. My 2 little ones washed the dishes, my 20 yr. old washed a load of clothes when she got home from work and she cooked dinner. Wala! All taken care of. That's the main thing is to try to find something that helps to reign you in so you continue to do the things you know needs to be done for your business so you can have the money you need to financially care for what's most important? The Children!!!

A Little Inspiration from Walt Disney - Blog Entry

22 May 2007 10:54 AM

Aloha Heather,

I think somewhere I posted that it's one of my goals to take my children to Disneyland. I Love everything about Disney. I even emailed The Secret website and told them that Walt Disney should have been listed as one of the teachers. I'd love to read his biography, I think I have long time ago but forgot. He does inspire and motivate me as a WAHM even though the 2 fields are completely different, there's still creativity, imagination, a love, belief and passion for what you're doing, which are the same.

Aloha Beth, I have been doing just that and I thought it's an important enough subject to write about on my blog. It's so easy to hum and opens my mind to more creative thinking.

The Breastfeeding Mafia is Starving Babies - Blog Entry

15 May 2007 03:21 PM

Aloha,

I'm new here so I would like to comment but with respect. I don't think the breast feeding campaigns mean to "bully" a mom into breast feeding. They give information out and it's up to the individual mom to breast feed or not. I breast fed all of my children. With my first child it was easy. With my second child, he was premature and in an incubator so the nurses tried really hard to get me to have him use formula fed to him through a tube. I refused and breast fed him. With my third child the doctor gave me a book in favor of "not" breast feeding but I was already in favor of breast feeding. With each child I took them for check ups and this is where the doctor can see if the baby is not gaining weight like it should or if the baby is malnourished. With so much harm done in promoting "not breast feeding" in the past it's hard to restore the damage that's been done.

Disney News: This is Disturbing - Blog Entry

15 May 2007 01:24 PM

Aloha,

I'm new here and entered this blog because one of my dreams is to take my children to Disneyland. And yes, I love the Disney Channel as well. Children are so innocent and it seems that these criminals are always trying to find ways to corrupt our children!

Imagination-It's Not Just for Children - Blog Entry

15 May 2007 01:00 PM

Aloha again Kori,

You and I are going to get along just fine! I totally agree with you and imagination. In fact I'm going to post on my blog about my 9yr. old daughter who made me a pair of earrings for Mother's Day and a card. I thought, what is the relevance of that to a WAHM being motivated to do her business? Well, it's just like you said, imagination fosters images in our mind of what we want, then we set out to accomplish just that. I hope I make sense.

What I LIKE About Being a Single Parent - Blog Entry

15 May 2007 12:53 PM

Aloha Kori,

I too am a single mother. I just found this site because I was looking up relationships between humming and stress. I posted something here regarding that subject. It's so nice to hear positive things about single parenting. I wouldn't trade it for the world!

Sing Your Way to Calm - Blog Entry

15 May 2007 12:39 PM

Aloha,

I have 3 children that are always humming. I thought I'd give it a try this morning and immediately felt relaxed. My oldest daughter has always hummed and I believe that is what makes her able to focus more on her goals and actually completing and accomplishing them. I noticed that my 9yr. old started humming lately and now my 12 yr. old son is humming as well. Does this mean we have a stressful household? Who doesn't?! I think my children are way ahead of me as far as handling stress is concerned. To me it's almost like replacing negative thoughts with positive thoughts like being thankful in the midst of chaos. When I feel myself stressed (which is often) I just start to hum now. I Love it!!!
