Sean Penn and Jim Carrey the New Stooges and Bob Barker Returns to “Price is Right”

Sean Penn as Larry from “The Three Stooges?” I’d have to see it to believe it… and even then I might not accept it. Then again, Penn is a double Oscar winner, so perhaps it won’t be that much of a stretch. After all, Penn did get his start in Hollywood playing goofball Jeff Spicoli in “Fast Times at Ridgemont High.” Regardless, the news of Penn signing on to play Larry in the Farrelly brothers’ big-screen update of “The Three Stooges” still caught me off guard. Penn is teaming up with Jim Carrey (who is currently “in negotiations” for the … Continue reading

Rosie a Successor to Bob Barker?

Michele and I have written many blogs about Bob Barker ending his successful run on “The Price is Right.” After all, as Bob has said, he is 83 and wants to retire before he gets too old. So the big question is…who is going to replace him? There have been all types of rumors as to who the next host might be. My favorite is Mario Lopez. That would certainly have me tuning in every day or at least setting the DVR to record the show! But, it does not seem that he is a true candidate. Michele had mentioned … Continue reading

Bye-Bye Bob!

My co-blogger Libby and I share many things in common—including having grown up watching Bob Barker on “The Price Is Right.” So it is with a touch of sadness that we collectively mourn his final days on the popular TV game show. Come June 15th Bob Barker will no longer be a part of daytime TV. It is a loss that millions of Barker fans have been preparing for since the Emmy Award-winning host announced his retirement plans last year. Today has been dubbed “Black Wednesday” on the series’ set—it is the day that Barker tapes his farewell show. And … Continue reading

Celebrity Updates: Regis Returns, Dannielynn Says Bye-Bye to the Bahamas, and More

REGIS RETURNS He’s baaaack! Talk show host Regis Philbin returned to his day job (and a standing ovation by hundreds of fans) today—six weeks after undergoing triple heart bypass surgery. Did you get to see any part of his return on “Live With Regis and Kelly?” I saw bits and pieces and agree with everyone who expressed amazement at how well Philbin looks. (Hard to believe he’s 75!) As promised David Letterman, host of CBS’”Late Show,” was Philbin’s first guest. Letterman called it “payback time.” (Philbin was a guest host when Letterman underwent heart bypass surgery in 2000). Philbin mentioned … Continue reading

Don’t Be Afraid To Try New Things With Your Toddler

Sometimes, the thought of doing a specific activity with your toddler can be much more daunting than actually doing it. For example, when Dylan’s aunt decided to take him fishing about a month ago, I wondered whether she realized what she could be getting herself into. It turns out that she had thought about what fishing could be like with a toddler, and that she had age appropriate expectations. They had a great time, and Dylan is lucky that he has such a nice auntie who is willing to try doing things with him that seem rather daunting to me. … Continue reading

Celebs React to Dick Clark’s Death – Part 1

Dick Clark was an icon of American pop culture and his passing has been on the minds of many lately. How is Hollywood reacting? Ryan Seacrest, who seems poised to be Clark’s pop culture heir apparent, tweeted, “I am deeply saddened by the loss of my dear friend Dick Clark. He has truly been one of the greatest influences in my life. I idolized him from the start, and I was graced early on in my career with his generous advice and counsel. When I joined his show in 2006, it was a dream come true to work with him … Continue reading

Keep On Keeping On

On Valentine’s Day Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar sat down for their first live TV interview since announcing the loss of their unborn daughter Jubilee Shalom in December. The “19 Kids and Counting” stars opened up about Michelle’s devastating miscarriage during a “Today” show interview which aired during the 8 o’clock hour. By 8:30 a.m. the Internet exploded as hundreds of thousands of Tweeters, Facebookers and bloggers responded to a two-second answer Michelle Duggar gave regarding a question about trying for another baby. “We would be open to more if God saw fit to bless us with more,” Michelle said. … Continue reading

Drew Carey Under Fire After Blowing Off Miracle “Price is Right” Win

Well, that was awkward… to put it mildly. A Christmas miracle occurred on CBS’ “The Price is Right” yesterday and host Drew Carey could not have cared less. It was a feat that hasn’t happened in more than 30 years. A couple days ago a contestant on “The Price is Right” nailed the price of his showcase down to the exact dollar. The DOLLAR. A guy named Terry bid $23,743 on his showcase featuring a trailer, a jukebox and a host of other high priced goodies, and the actual retail price of his showcase was $23,743. Unbelievable! Actually, completely unbelievable. … Continue reading

Stars Receiving Medical Attention

He hasn’t even been on the job for a week and Drew Carey has already suffered his first “Price Is Right” related injury. Attack of the Big Wheel! Well, not exactly. According to show execs, Carey’s arm got caught in the revolving turntable on the Grocery Game during a recent rehearsal. (Can you imagine if it happened on air?) Show producers say the comedian turned game show host was taken to the hospital as a precaution and is now sporting a “soft cast” and nursing a few bruises. Carey says he is feeling better and has been reportedly showing off … Continue reading

Celebrity Updates: Ian and Harry—REJECTS!

Frankly, I didn’t even know he was a serious contender. (Actually, I didn’t even know he was in the running at all.) But, according to former “Beverly Hills, 90210” star Ian Ziering, he was stunned to hear Drew Carey beat him out for “The Price Is Right” gig. “I guess I was a little disappointed,” Ziering, recently told reporters. “I was really kind of hoping that would happen. Sure, he did a fairly decent job recently lighting up the floor on last season’s “Dancing with the Stars,” but I’m not sure knowing how to shake your groove qualifies a person … Continue reading
