Married at Sea: Disney Cruise Weddings

I’ve never written much about a Disney wedding, which is strange because I’m a blogger both for our Disney and our Marriage categories. But if you read my marriage blogs you know that I’m not a fan of big, fancy weddings, and a Disney wedding would certainly be that. Previous Disney bloggers have written a lot on the topic, so I didn’t have anything new to offer. Until now. I just learned that the Disney Cruise line offers wedding and vow renewal packages. I’m always up for writing about a new Disney thing I didn’t know existed, and we’ve never … Continue reading

Would You Buy Walt Disney Signature Products?

I’ve talked a lot about the Disney merchandise permeating our lives, about the “must have” mania it can sometimes inspire, or just the fun experience of being a collector it can involve. I’ve mentioned some of the bizarre merchandise Disney offers, but I haven’t really gone into just how much Disney there is that we don’t recognize. Obviously a company as large as Disney owns several properties that don’t brandish their Mouse Ears: television channels ABC and ESPN, the newly-acquired Marvel, even the publishing company Hyperion. But that’s not what I’m talking about. Today I’m interested in the brands bearing … Continue reading

Sell Your Wedding Dress

The wedding season is hot upon us. Modern couples want to enjoy not only the trappings of a traditional wedding, but also a deep-seated sense of frugality where they can save money. How can you do both of these things? Consider selling your wedding dress after your wedding and recouping some of the money you spent on the dress and affording another bride an opportunity to enjoy similar fashion for less the cost. Decide Ahead of Time It’s important to make the decision to sell your wedding dress before you actually get married. I wouldn’t have sold my wedding dress, … Continue reading

Bridal Fashion Week—How To Look Like A Disney Princess Bride

Here we go again. The Big Apple is hunkering down for yet another Fashion Week (to read my series on Fashion Week 2007 click here). But this time designers are catering to a certain clientele—brides-to-be. Bridal Fashion Week kicks off in Manhattan on Sunday, but some fashion editors are already offering their picks on what may prove to be runway standouts. If you have always dreamed of looking like a princess on your wedding day then you are in luck… especially if the princess you’ve dreamt of looking like is from a Disney movie. Oh, no they didn’t! Oh, YES … Continue reading

Disney Allows Same Sex Couples ‘Fairy Tale Wedding’

I subscribe to several news feeds that pertain to subjects I may be blogging about. Every single news feed was buzzing about this hot little news item. It has evoked both strong applause and strong disapproval. To recap, apparently up until this past week, Disney was restricting same sex couples from renting Disney spaces that were specifically designed to hold weddings but they would allow them to rent meeting rooms for ‘commitment ceremonies.’ However, they’ve recently decided to do ‘the right thing’ (as one spokesman put it) and allow same sex couples to buy wedding packages, complete with all the … Continue reading

A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes Disney Consumer Products recently announced the launch of what they call the Disney Fairy Tale Wedding Collection. If you are planning an autumn wedding, here are some tips to help you out: If your wedding is going to be outdoors, you need to have a good idea of the type of weather to expect – from damp … Continue reading

Remember it is HIS day too . . .

Far too often when we talk about weddings and wedding planning, we concentrate on the bride and what she is going through. We talk about her wishes, her dreams and her plans. While a lot of grooms may espouse that whatever their bride wants is fine with them – remember, it’s HIS day too. When my husband and I got married, I thought it would be great to have a Groom’s Cake. I just loved the idea of it. I even wanted to do one right out of Steel Magnolias and have an armadillo groom’s cake. I thought it would … Continue reading
