Advanced Tips: An Income And Free Luxuries

If you have been practicing a frugal lifestyle for a while, you probably know all about the basics of saving money. You cut coupons, turn off your lights, shop at yard sales, etc. But if you want to take it to the next level you will need some advanced tips.

Here is some advice on getting some of those free luxuries that you may be spending too much for now, or even doing without, all while earning an income.

There are many easy part-time jobs that you can do that have perks for the employees. And by taking advantage of these perks, you will enjoy the good things in life all for free. Here are some examples to get you started.

Want movies? Work part time in a movie theater. Not only will you be able to watch the latest movies for free, but often times the theater will allow your immediate family to come and watch for free, too. At $10 or more per movie, that is a lot of savings.

Video rental places, such as Blockbuster often allow their employees to “rent” videos for free.

An avid reader? When I worked part time in the book store, I was always encouraged to read the latest hot books and advanced reading copies in order to be better at my job of helping customers. I got to read some wonderful books, all for free. I didn’t have to wait for months for a library copy to become available, either.

Food is more of a necessity than a luxury. But if you want access to free food, work in a restaurant. Your best bet is to stay away from fast food chains and choose a family owned restaurant, such as a pizzeria or diner. Or, you can go upscale for gourmet. You’ll bring something yummy home every day.

Don’t forget store discounts, too. While they may not be absolutely free, those discounts can save you a lot. I know a friend who became a seasonal worker in a furniture store in order to furnish her house. Or why not work in a craft store to supply your craft habit. An added bonus is that you will be the first to see all of the new items!
