Many people struggle with the concept of tithing. Ten percent is a significant portion of your income. Many people become resentful of the money that they pay for tithing. When you are struggling financially that money could be used to pay bills and help to make ends meet. Even if you struggle to pay tithing each month you should pay it.
Tithing brings promised blessings, which include being able to take care of your family. It helps you spiritually as well to pay tithing. This simple act of obedience and faith can really help your testimony to grow by leaps and bounds. The Lord will bless your family as you obey the commandments.
If you are struggling with why you should pay tithing, you may want to make it a matter of prayer. You may also want to talk to your bishop who can answer any questions that you have about why we pay tithing. The Lord may provide you with a change of heart in the matter. You may begin to recognize blessings that are coming as a result of paying tithing.
Personally I think the commandment of tithing is a wonderful blessing. I am grateful that I can give something back to the Lord, after all He has given me. I know that our needs have always been met as we faithfully pay our tithing. We are not rich, but able to provide for our family. I feel the spiritual blessings even more. I feel that the Lord knows that I will obey the commandments. My family is strengthened to meet the every day challenges of life and I believe that part of that comes from faithfully paying our tithing.
Ultimately we decide our attitude about paying tithing. If we look at tithing as a blessing, it will be easier to pay it each month. It is a wonderful way to give thanks to the Lord for all that He has given us. If we look at tithing negatively, it is much more difficult to recognize the blessings that come into our lives as a result of paying it.
