Top 10 ways to travel to Paradise

(A Mommy’s Escape Plan) Stressed out and want to travel? I know I do but I’m on Oprah’s Debt Diet. For those of you that don’t know what that is, it’s when you honestly look at your credit card bills (yikes) and decide to pay them off. So traveling, my number one lover, will have to be patient. Until then I have some ideas, if you too, want/need to escape. Why not try: 1. Massage. As a Licensed Massage Therapist, I can promise you, your tension heads to your neck, back and shoulders. Whether you pick a half hour massage … Continue reading

Traveling Home

I confess, most of the time I think I have to go somewhere to have fun. I’m a gypsy and I love to travel. My husband Harry agrees. Not that we don’t have wonderful times at home, but home is connected to work, responsibility, phone calls, bills, cleaning.…It’s also my sanctuary but that’s a different article. It’s easier to imagine endless exploration, hotels and adventures outside our black front door. On Saturday we had a big, successful yard sale. Today, Sunday, we planned to do outside chores like mowing the grass and weeding my garden. However, Tegan, 1, wants to … Continue reading

8 Reasons I love Honey Pot Hill Orchard, Stow MA

8. THE DRIVE to the orchard is beautiful. I may have a little Labrador in my blood, I do love car rides. I appreciate the historic homes in Massachusetts, and admiring the newer ones. We feel like you’re leaving it all behind as we drive into the woods to the orchard. 7. BUY YOUR BAG. Once you arrive, you’ll be amazed at how big the orchard is. There are a few parking lots but we like parking near the pond. That’s where you’ll purchase your apple bag(s). I have fun thinking about how many pies I’ll bake for family and … Continue reading

Hands on at Adams Farm in Vermont

This past weekend my family visited the Adams Farm in Wilmington, Vermont. It’s a working farm that is friendly and has a lot of charm. We walked into the gift shop and I was in heaven. Like many Vermont country stores, they actually do have soups to nuts, coffee mugs, maple syrup, pottery and so much more. On the second floor, beautiful quilts were displayed along with handmade sweaters and chilren’s outfits. It was a weaver, knitter and crochet paradise since they sell many different types of yarn- balls of silk and other types, from animals on the farm. The … Continue reading

How to Survive a plane ride with a baby or toddler

Two years ago, we had a potential airplane crisis. We barely took off from Logan Airport in Boston when our two-year-old son, Riley threw a piece of Muenster cheese into an older lady’s hair. And it stuck. Everyone behind our seat in 23 A chuckled, stared and were curious how I was going to handle the cheese head dilemma. My husband Harry slouched down low. No doubt, parents thought, “Thank God it’s not me.” I ended up plucking the cheese out as I gently bumped into the back of the lady’s seat. Whew! Here’s some tips I have to pass … Continue reading

The Scoop on Sydney, Australia

Ever think about traveling down under? Here’s some basic information on a city that is as layered as New York, labeled as a city that doesn’t sleep and dare say, more beautiful (than NY thanks to the beaches and Sydney Harbour.) I’m a New Yorker, so I hope I can say that! Sydney is the largest city in Australia boasting over four million residents in a country that is also considered an island AND a continent. Sydney is also one of the most recognizable cities in the world thanks to the half shell dome that holds the Sydney Opera House … Continue reading
