Did you upgrade to Vista?

Earlier this week Microsoft released their newest operating Microsoft Vista to millions of anxious computer users. People camped out outside of electronics and computer stores to count themselves as one of the first to have the newest operating system on their PC. Have any of you upgraded to Vista? I’ll admit I am one of the masses who upgraded to Vista. In my defense however my “upgrade” was really my first use of any type of Windows operating system on my computer. I recently purchased a MacBook Pro, which can use Windows and OSX. I hadn’t installed Windows on my … Continue reading

Do You Upload Video To The Internet?

Video sharing sites like YouTube and Google video are quickly gaining in popularity. Millions of people everyday are uploading videos of themselves, their families, and their friends doing crazy and off the wall things as well as simply telling the news from the world around us. How many of you upload video to the web? I am an avid video editor, actually, video editing is my day job. I love to shoot my own films, and at one point I was carrying a camcorder with me where ever I went. That said, I haven’t really gotten into the whole internet … Continue reading

How Do You Podcast?

This morning during some random web surfing I came across an “official podcasting kit” for sale on the Internet for around $300. The kit included some decent podcasting software and a studio quality USB microphone. I was first appalled at the price of the kit, considering I think I can create pretty decent podcasts using the included software on my computer and my $15 microphone from Target. The more I think about it, the more sense it made. Podcasts have become more and more popular in recent years; to a point that I think they could legitimately be a “job” … Continue reading

How Long Do You Spend On The Internet?

How much time do you spend on the Internet? Last night I sat down on the sofa to watch TV with my significant other. He was going to go get something out of his car, so I picked up my laptop and turned it on thinking I would have time to check my email before he got back.. As soon as I started to sign on I was attacked with a “Why do you always do that?” A discussion ensued where I told him I intended on only checking my email, and he responded with the statement that it was … Continue reading

When Do You Buy A New Computer?

With the release of Windows Vista a lot of people are faced with the problem of whether to upgrade their existing computer to support the OS, stick with their old copy of Windows, or simply purchase a new computer. That got me to thinking…How often do you purchase a new computer? I purchased a G4 PowerMac early in 2001. I used that computer exclusively until December of last year when I purchased a MacBook Pro laptop. I absolutely love my laptop, it was one of those purchases I contemplated for years before actually making however. For me I think I’m … Continue reading

Advertising Taking Over Myspace

I joined Myspace about a year ago after a friend of mine mentioned it every single time we saw each other. I put up a picture, made a little profile, and immediately started receiving friend requests. For the most part all of my friend requests at that point were from people I was actually friends with. There we quite a few people from my office with pages who asks to be my cyber friend, and then people I knew from college starting coming out of the woodwork in droves. I was able to reconnect with tons of people that I … Continue reading

Upgrade Your Computer Mouse

I recently inherited a friends PC. When he brought the computer over to my house he brought along with it the original mouse that came with the computer still in it’s original packaging. Apparently he has a general rule that he doesn’t use the included mouse with any computer he buys. After looking at the mouse that cam with his HP desktop, I can see why. The included mouse with his computer was lightweight and was fairly basic. After using different mice with my computers for so long I have to say I’ve gotten rather spoiled. I used the included … Continue reading

Amazon Get’s Answers!

Just when you thought Amazon.com sold everything, they’ve started carrying something completely different…answers. Askville is Amazons newest invention, a place where people can ask questions and get answers. When I logged into the site today there were a wide range of questions from the simple “What is your favorite coffee drink” to the more complex “Are the neurons in our heads subject to laws of physics and behave in an measurable way like pool balls-or can we think?” The site is filled with all types of questions most of which are the type of thing you would ask a friend … Continue reading

iCache: One Credit Card Instead of 30

I recently went to the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. While I was there I spent a decent amount of time in the press room and while in the press room obviously talked to several members of the press. The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) is designed to showcase new electronics, with manufacturers from every walk of life. There were people there who make large panel flat screen televisions, as well as people who make hair curling irons, everything goes. In the press room one day we started talking about what our favorite item from the show was and one … Continue reading

When Do You Upgrade Your OS?

How often do you replace your operating system? The more I think about it, the more this question more than likely doesn’t apply to many people. Windows operating systems usually come out every couple of years. If you purchased a computer at the beginning of one operating system, then you are more than likely going to be ready for a whole new computer by the time the next one comes around. I have been using the same Mac G4 since 2001. In that time I think I have upgraded operating systems…3 times maybe? Each time I upgraded was not because … Continue reading
