21 Things I’ve Learned about My Christian Walk at the Gym

If you go to a gym, it might be fun to seek out a correlation of your faith and your workout. The following are some things I’ve come up with:

1. Doing the right thing might take some sacrifice but is worth it at the end of the day.

2. My Christian walk is like being on a moving treadmill; when I’m not walking forward, I’m back-sliding.

3. I don’t make it very far if I haven’t eaten a good meal or drank enough water.

4. Just when I don’t think I can take another step, I learn that I really can.

5. Time seems to go faster praising God to music on my iPod rather than staring at the clock.

6. My most progressive workouts happen outside the home, at the gym.

7. I have a greater appreciation for what luxury cleanliness is after a sweaty workout.

8. Put one step in front of the other. Each step is that much closer to the goal.

9. There will always be someone stronger, or more fit than me.

10. Working out can actually be fun.

11. I am enjoying the fruits of my labor.

12. No matter how much I work out, I will have never “arrived”. Working toward being fit will be a lifelong activity.

13. If I don’t take a shower after becoming filthy from sweat, I’ll continue to stink.

14. Becoming healthier has radiated its benefits in other parts of my life.

15. Setting goals for myself gives me purpose.

16. Vanity doesn’t have its place when working out; necklaces become annoying and make-up just gets ruined from sweating.

17. Being accountable to a trainer has helped to keep me on track.

18. Confessing I need help is humbling but has gotten me the help and support I need to get better.

19. When I step up for my final judgment (weekly on the scale), truth is revealed.

20. Trying to be good about working out doesn’t do squat for me. I actually have to put myself into action.

21. Working out is more fun when doing so with someone else.
