5 Reasons Why You Need a Seal-a-Meal

1. No more freezer burn. I’m one of those people who likes to cook once a week, or better yet once a month. The trouble with doing such efficient cooking is you need to find an equally efficient form of storage. I’ll admit it, I’m cheap. I buy the store brand zipper bags
for everyday storage. The trouble with that, and even with the more costly Ziploc bags is that there is no way to efficiently remove all the air from the bag prior to freezing. (The air inside the bag is what causes freezer burn.) Ever since I broke down and paid $40
(retail) for a Seal-a-Meal, I haven’t had that problem at all. With a Seal-a-Meal, you can remove all of the air and food will stay fresh in the freezer for years. Yes, years!

2. Have inexpensive berries out of season. We’re big berry lovers here. Blueberry muffins, strawberry filled muffins, berry crisps and cobblers are all popular foods in my household. The problem, until now, has always been that I just can’t get inexpensive berries out of season. Now that I have a Seal-a-Meal, I can buy berries inexpensively while they are in season and then seal and store them in my freezer for that morning in the dead of winter when my family is just jonesing for a batch of blueberry muffins.

3. Make ahead meals. I love making roasts but my husband and I just can’t eat a 3 pound roast by ourselves. My husband hates leftovers, so I have to get creative about how I prepare foods. One thing I love about my Seal-a-Meal is that I can buy a large roast, cut it into two
or three smaller roasts, season it and then seal it up and freeze it for cooking later. A one-pound roast takes very little time to cook and is the perfect size for generous portions for two adults and one generous portion left over for the wife who doesn’t mind leftovers!

4. Economical for singles. When I was single, I always wanted to take advantage of the discounts available on meats when buying in bulk. The problem was that the meat would be ruined by freezer burn before I ever got around to eating all of it. A Seal-a-Meal makes life far less expensive for singles because they can seal and store foods that they buy in bulk.

5. Great for packing. OK, here is the great part that everybody forgets! You can pack clothes or other items in a plastic Seal-a-Meal bag and they’ll take up less than half the space in your luggage that they would otherwise. This is a particularly good idea for packing
socks for a canoeing trip! They’ll be dry when you unpack them, no matter how many times you dump that canoe.
