6 Ways to Reuse Cereal Box Liners

cereal boxes Do you think that some things could never be reused? There are so many uses for the ordinary stuff that comes in and out of our lives. One good example is that cereal box liner. Cereal box liners are the waxed bags that hold the cereal and keep it fresh in the box.

In an earlier blog about reusing the cereal boxes themselves, I touched on how useful these liners can be. Now, I’ll share six ideas for reusing them. Why throw something away if it could save money?
Which idea is your favorite? Do you have an idea that is not on this list? Please let me know!

Use the cereal box liners instead of baggies for packing lunch. They will keep your sandwiches so fresh!

Cut open the cereal box liner and lay it flat. Then use it when dipping chocolate covered pretzels or making candies. The sweets can sit on the liner to cool and harden. You just saved yourself some wax paper, or at least the mess of prying the sweets off of a plate or cookie sheet.

Speaking of treats, here is another idea. Use a cereal liner over your hand to pat down and spread warm rice crispy treats in the pan when making them.

Microwave hot dogs, muffins and more inside the cereal box liner. When I heard this tip, my only question was if someone could tell me if the cereal bag liners were microwave safe. I still haven’t found out the answer to this.

If they are safe for the microwave, then you can also use the next tip of covering a dish with a cereal box liner to prevent spills and splatters in the microwave.

If you are making bran muffins, you know that many recipes call for crushed bran cereal. Place the cereal in a cereal box liner, fold the end over for a seal and use a rolling pin to crush the contents. Try this also for an Oreo cookie crust, a graham cracker crust, a nut or cracker crust for a casserole, etc.
