As part of our family July 4th celebration we took our daughter to play miniature golf at a designated family fun center called Adventure Land. Adventure Land has a great arcade, 54 holes of miniature golf on 3 separate courses, a raceway speed track for go-karts and even a baseball-batting cage.
In a nutshell, it’s a great place for a family outing. We checked the prices before going and two rounds of miniature golf per person is only $7.50 – so for a family of three we spent a little over $20 to play 36 holes of miniature golf. It took us about 2 hours and since it was our daughter’s first real chance to play golf – she was tickled pink.
A Day at the Park
I described our rain earlier today, but the rain hadn’t started when we headed to go play miniature golf. For a little over a year, whenever I was taking my daughter to her preschool we drove past a golf course and she persistently asked about golf and the opportunity to learn how to play it.
Today we made good on that promise. She didn’t do two bad – in fact, there were only two holes where she took more than 3 shots to sink her ball – and since par was 2 strokes on all the holes – she was averaging one stroke above par or maybe it’s below par – I’m not good at golf terms.
Mom, Dad and Kids
Adventure Land was populated by many families including one family of ten (5 kids, 2 parents, 1 uncle and 2 grandparents) who were all there making the rounds of the various holes – it was neat to see the many families playing, laughing and having a good time. It was even more fun to watch my husband explaining how to line up a shot and helping our daughter position her body correctly.
He even adjusted to helping her with a left hand stance and that made a lot of difference for her since she is left-handed. By the time we were done – we were hot, sweaty and laughing. We’d talked about different things and we made plans to return for another family outing. Miniature golf – it’s cheaper than the movies and you get more activity out of it – and if you only want to play one round of holes – your tickets are good to go back for a second visit where you can play 18 holes again and not have to pay more. Not bad, eh?
Have you ever played miniature golf?
