A Few Good Christmas Books For Kids

If you are still looking for holiday gifts for the kids on your list, may I suggest a few good books? I’m a writer and an avid reader so books are my life and every time I give one I feel like I’m somehow making the world a better place. I love the classic Christmas tales but why not introduce young readers to new writers and new tales. Here are few good books you should check out:

(1) Christmas Tails, by Robert Leeds
A lovely parable about Santa and a mongrel dog.

(2) Merry Un-Christmas, by Mike Weiss and David Catrow
Find out what happens when it’s Christmas 364 days of the year.

(3) The Night Before Christmas Series, various authors
There’s a whole hilarious adaptation series (about a hundred!) of the classic tale, including:

Librarian’s Night Before Christmas

Hillbilly Night Before Christmas

And

A Cajun Night Before Christmas

Check out all the books in the series here

(4) Mrs. Claus Takes A Vacation, by Linas Alsenas
Mrs. Claus decides that her husband should not be the one to have all the fun. So she goes off in search of adventure with a promise to return by Christmas Eve.

(5) How the Grinch Stole Christmas, by Dr. Seuss
Can’t leave out an old favorite!

(6) Today is Christmas, by P. Hallinan
A young child reflects on all the preparations for Christmas and then enjoys the day that he’s been waiting for.

(7) The Littlest Angel, by Charles Tazewell
The story of a 4-year-old cherub in heaven and his connection to the Star of Bethlehem.

(8) Three French Hens by Margie Palatini
Three French Hens are sent from Paris to New York to a mademoiselle’s true love but they get routed to the wrong address.
