Sometimes, home – based business ideas just appear out of the blue. Since I like to share ideas for home – based businesses that others may be interested in, I would like to tell you about an idea that I stumbled upon today with a little help from my two year old son. A few days ago, I went to the local library to borrow some DVDs to watch with him. We don’t have television service at our house, but we do occasionally like to sit down and watch a nature video or something else appropriate for little eyes and ears.
One of the DVDs that I picked out was a PBS special called “Show Cats”, and it is about cat breeders and cat shows. I thought that perhaps Dylan would enjoy it because he absolutely loves cats. He loves it, and as I was watching it with him it dawned on me that the cat breeders who are featured in the story all breed show cats at their homes. They are home – based professionals.
This is good news for all of the cat lovers out there. Your love of all things cat could become a home – based business if local regulations permit and if you so desire. The breeders that I saw on the film were not breeding huge numbers of cats, and I think that is a good thing. Their homes were all neat and well kept, and the cats had their own dedicated living spaces which were as spacious and well appointed as those of the humans. One woman even mentioned that she has a husband and children. It was evident by looking at the way that she had set up her breeding program and her home that she had taken care to keep her business small enough that everyone could coexist peacefully and get the attention that they needed from her.
I do not know much about what goes into a cat breeding business, but it does seem like a way that a person could turn a passion into a home – based business. If the idea appeals to you, there are many books and other resources available on the topic so that you can find out for yourself whether it is a viable idea for you.
