A Place of Refuge: Ronald McDonald House Charities

In service for approximately 35 years now, the Ronald McDonald House Charities offers a place to stay while your child is undergoing medical treatment away from your home. The Ronald McDonald House Charities receives its support from organizations, businesses and individuals who care about others and are sympathetic to their hardships. If the family is able to afford a donation they are asked to donate anywhere from $5 and $25 per night of their stay. This is based on their ability to contribute such a donation, but can be waived if the family is unable to do so.

Based on their specific illnesses some children must leave the area that they reside in and travel to other areas to receive their required health care. Families must often separate and divide where one parent goes with the child leaving the other parent and children behind while this is taking place due to finances. It is virtually impossible to be able to afford living expenses for the rest of the family. At the Ronald McDonald House Charities families are able to stay together without the financial burdens of housing issues. By allowing the families to be together during the health crisis of the child their family unit is better able to handle their circumstances because they are all together.

At the Ronald McDonald House the families are able to have private living space with their meals provided to them. Depending on the location there is often additional play space for their children along with activities and support services. No matter what their financial situation may or may not be no family is turned down to receive these services.

If you would like to support the Ronald McDonald House Charities there are several ways that you can make a difference in the lives of others. Visit http://rmhc.org/ to find out how you can help to ease someone else’s burden in their time of great need.
