A “Spicy” New Reality TV Show

Okay, try to refrain from rolling your eyes until after you’ve read this entire blog (or at least half of it). Just when you thought there was not a soul left in the world for TV producers to recruit for a reality series—BAM—one comes out of the woodwork.

According to news reports, former Spice Girl, Victoria Beckham is reportedly in talks to appear in her own reality TV show. While nothing has been set in stone, a source close to the project tells news reporters that a decision is imminent.

The premise of the show (which sources say is being pitched to NBC executives) is “yet to be determined,” though some insiders say that the series will likely focus more on Beckham’s work rather than her life as wife to soccer super star David Beckham and mother to their three young sons Brooklyn, 7, Romeo, 4 and Cruz, 2.

“It’s not going to be like The Osbournes,” the source told reporters. “But everyone will be pretty amazed at the TV show. It will be so different.”

Different in that it would primarily focus on Victoria Beckham’s business DVBStyle and her impending move to Los Angeles with her husband and children. For those of you who don’t follow this family very closely (don’t feel out of it), the Beckham’s are expected to move from Spain to California in July as David prepares to hit the soccer field for the L.A. Galaxy team.

My question: Who’ll watch? The Beckham’s are tight with some of Hollywood’s biggest couples, including Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, Will and Jada Smith, and Marc Anthony and Jennifer Lopez, but will their association with other A-listers convert to big television ratings? I suppose stranger things have happened.

In her defense, Victoria’s friends have publicly commented that the singer has a “fantastic sense of humor” and doesn’t “take herself seriously.” We’ll see if those attributes serve her well if or when she gets this new gig.
