Activity Days- Christmas Activity

This past week we did a Christmas Activity that my girls really loved! It was a little messy, but a lot of fun. I am in charge of our Ward Christmas Party this year, and as part of our party, we are going caroling in our neighborhood as a ward. We wanted something to hand out to the people that we carol to in order to reach out to the many non-members in our neighborhood. So, I thought of Christmas ornaments. Now, Christmas Ornaments are expensive. And, not very personal. So, my idea was to buy clear Christmas ornaments from Michaels. They came in a six pack for $4.99, but I got 20 % off my entire purchase with one of their in-ad coupons. So, I bought about 74 for about $54 dollars. Not bad.

I also purchased some metallic, acrylic paint. I had silver and white as my neutral tones, and then chose red, blue, and green for our accent color. We would squirt the white or silver into the ball, swirl it around, and then do the other color. It created a beautiful swirled effect inside the ball. We then turned them upside down onto dixie cups to save the excess paint. The girls had a blast creating one unique ball after another.

Now, if you are not doing this idea for your Christmas party, it’s still a great idea for the girls. They can keep an ornament for themselves, but here are some other ideas for what they can do with them.

*Gift for their teachers

*Gift for a neighbor

*Gift for their girlfriends

*Gift for their parents

*Make them for a homeless shelter

*Donate them to another charitable organization

These ornaments are something they will surely love, and will have a lot of fun doing it. If you encourage them to donate them, it could also be counted as service.
