All About Me: Where Were You When….?

Following in the footsteps of an article I wrote earlier last week, titled Where Were You When The World Stopped Turning, I thought a different sort of page was interesting for your all about me album. It’s important to include world events in an album, simply for prosperity down the road.

It’s a fascinating thing when you can read journaling from someone who has been through what you read about in your history books. Wouldn’t it be nice to be able to show your grandchildren and future generations what you remember about events that have changed history?

It’s time to do a little more soul searching and think long and hard about where you were during certain events. We all remember 9-11 pretty well, but what other events stand out in your mind? Can you remember where you were when John F. Kennedy was assassinated? Can you remember where you were when the Space Shuttle Columbia had it’s disaster?

It’s time to take a moment and create a layout and journal about these events.

You have the choice of breaking it down into separate events and journaling and scrapbooking them separately, or you can create one layout and put a small journaling box for each thing you remember.

A creative title for this layout is exactly what I’ve called this article “Where Were You When…”.

Another idea, might be to make up a time line of the events that happened during your lifetime and then write down your answers.

Although the following is not a complete list of major events, it is a nice list to get you started.

Don’t forget to research the different events and get the exact dates and times, and most likely even photographs to go with the entire layout.

  • Oklahoma City Bombing
  • John F. Kennedy being shot
  • Martin Luther King being assassinated
  • Nixon resignation
  • Challenger Disaster
  • Columbia Disaster
  • 9-11
  • John Lennon being killed
  • Invasion of Panama
  • Gulf War
  • Waco, Texas – Branch Davidian standoff
  • OJ Simpson police/white Bronco chase
  • Mother Teresa’s death
  • Princess Diana’s death
  • Clinton scandal and impeachment
  • Anthrax scare
  • East coast sniper
  • Lunar landing
  • The end of the Vietnam War
  • Watergate
  • and more recently possibly, icon Steve Irwin’s death.

Because this is such a stoic almost healing layout to do, take careful consideration on how you want your journaling to read. Be creative and enjoy the process of remembering such major events in our lives.
