American Idol, Making Memories Style

With the popularity of FOX’s American Idol, I guess the Making Memories wanted to get in on some of the same kind of fun. Last month Making Memories had a call for layouts to be posted for a Making Memories Idol Contest on their site.

They had thousands of entries and the Making Memories team narrowed the competitors down to 50. Now it is your turn to help decided the next Making Memories Idol. You can go here to sign up to receive an email reminder when the voting begins on Monday morning, March 5. The voting polls will be open for 48 hours. The 50 contestants will be narrowed to 30 after the voting. Then we will have to wait and see what the next round will involve.

I have a keen interest in this contest because I was chosen as one of the top 50. I would certainly not ask you for a vote, but I really do encourage you to head over to the site and place a vote for who ever you think has the best layout.

The theme of the layout for this 1st round of competition was “All About Me.” We had to create any sized layout that best represented our personality and style.

Here is the layout I submitted.

I decided to include a photo of myself surrounded by thing I love. I took and found pictures of many of the things I love and them created a collage style layout. There are some fun things I tried on this layout that you might want to add to a layout of your own.

I added painted around the edged of each of the pictures to create mini frames, which helped define each picture rather than just having them all in one big section.

The ghost frame was not the right size for framing my kid’s faces, so I cut it and then overlapped it so that it would fit. I actually like it cut more than just using the frame.

On the ghost frame, I added rub-ons to spell out one of my favorite quotes. Ghost frames are the perfect place to play and add details because of the layers capabilities.

It was also fun to add the bling jewels and tags from some of my favorite things.

I encourage you to sign up of the newsletter and then come out and vote. It is guaranteed that when you see all 50 of the All About Me layouts you will find loads on inspiration.
