Anchorage Baked Salmon

Anchorage Baked Salmon
A bit different than the usual salmon recipe. A great way to use salmon steaks which are often cheaper than fillets.

INGREDIENTS:
2 large onions
2 cups water
2 cups tomato juice
1 tbs catsup
1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 cup vinegar
2 tbs Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp garlic salt
1 tsp chili powder
2 whole bay leaves
4 whole cloves
4 steaks salmon

DIRECTIONS:
1. Cut onions into 1/2-inch slices, and separate into rings.
2. Combine onion rings and water in a saucepan, then bring to a boil over medium heat.
3. Reduce heat, and simmer, uncovered, 20 minutes.
4. Add tomato juice and next 8 ingredients, stirring well. Simmer 1 hour.
5. Remove and discard bay leaves and cloves. Set sauce aside.
6. Brown salmon steaks on both sides in a large nonstick skillet.
7. Place salmon in a large baking dish. Pour sauce over salmon, and bake at 350 degrees F for 30 minutes or until fish flakes easily when tested with a fork.
