“Arthur’s Tooth” by Marc Brown

Do you have a child who hasn’t lost any teeth yet?

In Arthur’s Tooth by Marc Brown. Arthur the main character is discouraged because he is the last child in his class to loose a baby tooth. Throughout the book the other children make fun of Arthur for not loosing a tooth.

Arthur’s friends try to help him loose his teeth. His friend Buster brought carrots and suggested Arthur try and eat a few of those. His friend Brain invented a claw like device to help pull his teeth out. His friend Ellen showed his how to cover his teeth with raisins so it would look like they had fallen out. Binky Barnes the class bully even offers to knock a few teeth out for Arthur.

Arthur is so upset that he hasn’t lost a tooth yet his mother takes him to the dentist. The dentist tells Arthur to be patient that his tooth will eventually fall out. Arthur is currently seven years old, and the dentist didn’t loose his first tooth until he was eight.

The next day at school one of his friends accidentally runs into him and the tooth falls out!

This is a cute little story perfect for your child who is getting ready to loose their first tooth. This is a cute short story that can comfort a child who is afraid they never will lose their first tooth.
