Baby Beethoven: Symphony of Fun

The Baby Einstein Company is truly amazing. With almost twenty videos, a great deal of CD’s, books, and toys, this company is an all-around educational smorgasbord! My daughter has all of the Baby Einstein DVD’s, but her favorite is “Baby Beethoven.” I think that might have something to do with the fact that I used to put headphones on my belly and play the “Baby Beethoven” CD when I was pregnant with her. She always kicked and moved around a lot when I played it — even in the car. I knew that once she started watching DVD’s that “Baby Beethoven” was the first one I would show to her.

“Baby Beethoven” features the music of Ludwig Van Beethoven, showcasing movements from four of his symphonies and many well-known incidental pieces. While your child enjoys the music of Beethoven, s/he is also entertained by a series of toys and puppets, combining audio and visual stimuli. Each movement of a symphony is introduced with an animated introduction to the symphony number. Other pieces, such as the famous “Moonlight Sonata” and “Fur Elise” are simply mixed throughout the rest of the video.

This DVD will completely engage your child in the world of Beethoven’s music by enhancing the experience with colorful images. Sometimes you may see a toy bug just roll across the screen, and at other times a mobile made of hand-painted wooden people will dance to the music. The Baby Einstein puppets also have a prominent role in this video. One short puppet show features a giraffe, the “Baby Beethoven” mascot, attempting to play a saxophone. Instead, a bunch of funny noises are heard which is sure to make you and your child smile and laugh.

“Baby Beethoven: Symphony of Fun” is a fun way to introduce your child to the joys of Beethoven’s famous music. It received Dr. Toy’s “100 Best Children’s Products” award in 2002 and a Kids First! video/DVD endorsement. This particular video is recommended for ages one month and up.

In addition to the DVD or VHS, there are toys, books, and other educational supplements to this video available for purchase from The Baby Einstein Company. Wal-Mart, Target, Amazon, and other retailers also sell Baby Einstein products.
