Baby Girl Given 25 Middle Names

Parents certainly have a right to name their kids anything they want to. Celebrities are well known for giving their kids outrageous names. What about 25 middle names? That’s exactly what a mother in London has done. What’s more the names all pay homage to boxers. The baby’s full name is:

Autumn Sullivan Corbett Fitzsimmons Jeffries Hart Burns Johnson Willard Dempsey Tunney Schmeling Sharkey Carnera Baer Braddock Louis Charles Walcott Marciano Patterson Johansson Liston Clay Frazier Foreman Brown.

The mother says her parents are boxing fanatics and have a “daft” sense of humor. She added that she hopes her daughter will take it all in stride.

In many cultures, the selecting of a newborn’s name is a serious event. However cute parents think the idea is at the time, they should stop and think how it’s going to affect the child later in life. Don’t get me wrong I like some of the odd names, like Apple and Summer but I draw the line at some of the more outrageous ones. In my day, a name like April was considered odd. And once I met a girl who was named after her mother. At the time, I had never heard of such a thing. I know females named for grandmothers and aunts but had never met one named after her mother.

When I was pregnant, I spent a lot of time thinking about what I would name by baby. I went through all the baby-naming books and checked out websites but nothing clicked. Then one day I was going over a list of names and the name Tyler reached off the page and slapped me in the face. I was about four months pregnant at the time and from that point on I referred to my fetus as Tyler.

So parents don’t be too cute when naming your kids. Remember these odd or long names will follow them the rest of their lives.

P.S.

In a related story a New Zealand couple can’t name their baby “4real”. Authorities blocked their decision because numbers aren’t allowed in a name. Couples who wish to name their babies unusual names must have their request considered on a case-by-case basis. “Satan” and “Adolph Hitler” were proposed names that were rejected by authorities.
