Baby Products You Don’t Need

If you are expecting your first child, you may be in the process of creating a baby registry. By now, you have probably noticed that there are so many baby products out there. You are also probably wondering which ones you really need and which you could do without. This is, of course, a matter of personal opinion.

The following items are things that I think most people will be just fine without. They are items that I either did not register for or never bought after either of my sons were born. A baby bathtub was given to me, but I returned it because I simply ended up taking baby into the tub with me for his baths. I used a blanket on the floor with some simple toys instead of a specialized tummy time mat. Dylan hated being in his pack n play and I disliked the thought of putting him in it so we stopped using it after just a few times. Shopping cart covers are cute, but they really are not very useful. They take up room in your purse or diaper bag, and it takes time to put them on the cart and take them off later.

There is something so tempting about teeny tiny footwear. However, babies do not need shoes until they start to walk, so save your money for getting your baby a good first pair of shoes when the time comes. Diaper changes do not have to take place on a changing table, especially if space is at a premium. We use changing pads on the bathroom floor. It is easy to reach the trash can and we have a basket with diapers, a tub of wipes, and the chancing pads on the floor right next to the sink. Also on the topic of diapering, wipe warmers are not essential nor are special diaper disposal systems. A well sealed trash can is just as effective and there are no expensive refill bags to buy.
