Back to a Simpler Time with Ikea’s Toys

A couple of years ago, we got an Ikea in our area. Now I am one of its biggest fans. I love Ikea! You can get some awesome deals there. Besides the other items that they sell, have you ever checked out the toys? They sell awesome toys that are simple, fun, and very inexpensive. My favorite aspect of Ikea’s toys is that they are classic and open-ended.

I have commented before on how important open-ended toys are for children. Open-ended toys are those that let a kid use his or her imagination. They don’t require a child to use the toy in a specific way. Generally, they are kid-powered, meaning that they don’t need batteries. Instead, kids are challenged to find their own way to play with them.

Sometimes it can be hard to find open-ended toys. A typical toy isle has shelves filled to overflowing with gadgets that have all kinds of buttons, lights, and sounds. Ikea’s children’s section is a different story. Ikea’s toys are timeless. You can find toys at their stores that you, your parents, or even your grandparents, loved as children. Some of these classics include an abacus, art supplies, and different types of blocks. Go to Ikea’s website to see what they have to offer.

Unfortunately, if there is not an Ikea in your area, there are not very many toys on the website that are available for online purchase. I checked out Ebay for Ikea toys, and found quite a few new items sold there from various Ebay stores. Unfortunately, the prices on Ebey for new Ikea products are much higher than you would pay for the same items in the store. Then, you have to pay for shipping and handling. So really, buying these toys only make sense if you can purchase them at the store. Check out this list to see if there is an Ikea near you. You might have just as much fun buying these toys as your kids do playing with them!
