Bacon Cheeseburger Diet?

Recently, there was an article about a British woman who lost 70 pounds and credits the weight loss to bacon cheeseburgers. I’d like to talk about that.

A cheeseburger does not have to be a bad for you food. OK, if you roll up to Carl’s Jr., McDonald’s or Burger King, it is a pretty safe guess that whatever burger gets handed to you through the window is going to be bad for you. You can count on that! And how many people order burgers from fast food joints without some fries on the side? Don’t even get me started on the salty, greasy carbfest called French Fries!

But it is a whole different story if you make the burger at home.

This woman made her burgers at home with extra lean ground beef, garlic and chilis. Now lean ground beef is a great source of protein and iron, two things most women rarely get enough of. Garlic is great for your heart and cholesterol levels and chilis, like jalapenos, are a natural metabolic enhancer. (Any spice or vegetable that makes you sweat is boosting your metabolism and that means more calories burned.)

She also grilled her burgers instead of pan frying. Grilling helps to remove any fat that may be in the meat.

A slice of cheese is a great source of calcium and protein. Sure, there is a little bit of fat in that but our bodies actually need a little bit of dietary fat. I have found that Kraft Deli Deluxe American slices have the best flavor, texture and most protein content for my buck.

One slice of lean bacon (lowest in fat if grilled) adds a whole lot of flavor and not a lot of calories. Why not allow yourself a slice of bacon on a cheeseburger?
She put all of these items on a whole grain roll (high in fiber and protein) and had these burgers three times a week.

Now, I can guarantee you that if you eat fast food three times a week and replace it with a burger like this, you will definitely lose weight! This woman went from 202 pounds to 130 pounds. That’s no small feat.

If you’re a fast food addict, consider pulling out that George Foreman grill and making your own bacon cheeseburgers. Who knows, it could be the most painless diet you’ve ever tried!
