Bahama Mama

This mama would love a spring getaway to the Bahamas! Of course, watching TV doesn’t help cure my wanderlust. If I had a dime for every time I’ve seen a commercial for the Atlantis resort in Nassau, I would have more than enough money to take my entire family on a trip there. What’s more, the Paradise Island mega-property is offering a spring deal that’s almost too hard to pass up. It includes a fourth-night free starting at $499 per person, including two passes to swim with the resort’s dolphins, plus kids 11 and under stay and eat free, as long as you book by March 31, 2011.

Atlantis also caters to teens. In fact, the resort recently opened a new 14,000 square foot club exclusively for guests ages 13-18. The $11 million nightclub has everything from famous guest DJs; specialty drinks; a cafe with high-tech, multi-touch computers and surface tables; a 22-foot video game “tree” with 56 game stations, and dozens of plush chairs and surround sound.

For foodies the massive resort, which boasts 3,500 rooms and 8,000 employees, is home to 40 restaurants and bars, including a signature eatery by celebrity chef Bobby Flay. There’s also a casino, a world-class spa and activities that promote parent-child bonding, like the Atlantis Speedway where kids and parents can design and build their own remote-control race cars.

Located just 180 miles from Florida, the Atlantis resort is an oasis of fun for the entire family, but it’s not only good for hoots and hollers. The ginormous hotel also houses an amazing collection of educational exhibits, including the world’s largest marine habitat complete with 50,000 marine animals. You and your kids can swim with dolphins, interact with sea lions and feed schools of exotic fish.

If that doesn’t wet your whistle, then consider the vast array of watery adventures that Atlantis offers to its guests, including a 140-acre “Aquaventure” complete with a mile-long river ride, seven-acre snorkeling lagoon, 13 swimming pools, and seven waterslides. Now that’s my idea of a spring break paradise.

Have you ever been to Atlantis?
