Bartering Resources

Bartering for goods and services, or swapping what you have for what you need is a great way to save money. If you happen to make something or can provide a service, then you have a ready made system that is just ripe for the barter system.

First, identify what it is that you have to offer, and then offer it instead of money, the next time you need to purchase something. Where do you start? Well, often you can start with the people you already know: friends, people in your mom’s group or at church, local businesses, etc.

Next, you can branch out in your bartering with one of the following web sites.

Here are some bartering resources.

Craigslist.org

This free classified ad board offers a barter section. You can post what you have and what you need.

BarterPlanet.com

This website is made just for bartering, so you know you’ll find plenty of people who are interested in trading here. You can swap almost anything, from small to large.

Zwaggle.com

This site focuses on baby and kid stuff. Basically, you post items that you have to give. If you donate them to someone else, you get points that you can then use on items you want and need.

Swapstyle.org

Focused on women’s fashion, you can trade clothes, shoes and accessories. if you are savvy with updating old looks for new or need a few classic pieces, this is a great site to get a new wardrobe while unloading your own unwanted pieces.

Esty.com

While this site is really focused on selling handcrafted goods, bartering is well received. You can find items that you want and then contact the seller to ask if they would be willing to barter their stuff for your stuff. For example, if spot some great jewelry, that costs $10, you can trade it for $10 worth of the soap that you make.
