Biblical Study: Beyond Beautiful Girlhood

Beyond Beautiful Girlhood Plus Companion Guide

By: Margaret Elizabeth Sangster, Revised and Expanded by Shelley Noonan

What is Beyond Beautiful Girlhood?

The next step in the Beautiful Girlhood series! Is your daughter prepared for life? Have you taught her how to manage a home, life, and spirit?

Mothers, you know the transition from carefree girlhood to the daybreak of womanhood can be the most frightening and exciting of times for your daughter! This book has often been described as a “glorified home economics” course because of the Biblical manner in which it deals with the transition. A 7-21 week journey for young women and their mothers to travel together!

Ages 12-18.

My Thoughts

As a mother of three girls ages 13, 6, and 3, I am reminded daily of the transition between girl to young lady and how fast it occurs. In just a few short years my oldest daughter will be out on her own. I can hardly wrap my mind around the little girl I once tended to boo boos and played Candyland with will have a life outside of my home. It begs the questions: Will she be prepared? Suddenly the time to make up for parental mistakes is coming to a close. What will she gleam from me? What lessons did I teach her about being a homemaker, a mom, a wife, a follower of Christ, and a productive woman? The time crunch is on and I feel the need to get down to brass tacks. I had not heard of Pumpkin Seed Press or Beautiful Girlhood until a year ago. Thankfully, there is Beyond Beautiful Girlhood. Beyond Beautiful Girlhood is called “A mother’s guide to training her daughter to manage home, life and spirit.” That is exactly what God called us to teach our daughters. To aid moms in their quest to raise Godly young women, Beyond Beautiful Girlhood is a 7 to 21 week study for both mom and daughter.

I must reveal that I am not the most emotional, sentimental or mushy person. In fact, my oldest daughter is exactly the same way. We are not the mother/daughter pair you see sipping tea, enjoying a flower garden and a nice heart to heart discussion. In fact the words “heart to heart discussion” has me running for the hills. I am simply not that person and neither is my oldest. My little sweet sentimental sensitive children are my son and my youngest daughter. I wondered if this study would be a good fit. The study is not sugary sweet but truly a solid study on character. The study is set up for the mom and the daughter to write journal entries based on the chapters of the book. The study is insightful and gives you a wonderful format to share your heart and for your daughter to share her heart on Christ and how to model after Him. I highly recommend this study for moms and daughters to learn how to walk with the Lord.
