Big Travel Deals in the Big Apple

Now that the parade watchers, holiday shoppers, and New Year’s Eve revelers have packed up and gone home, hoteliers in New York City are offering incredible rates to fill their rooms. If you have been waiting for an excuse to take in the bright lights of the city that never sleeps (and you don’t mind doing so in chilly temps) then now is the time to book your stay.

The following hotels are offering spectacular rates that shouldn’t be passed up. But, don’t procrastinate… the deals are only good through February and are booked on a first-come, first-served basis.

Algonquin Hotel. This New York landmark is where Lerner and Loewe wrote “My Fair Lady.” It was built in 1902 in the heart of the city’s Theater District and has an illustrious reputation. Each of the hotel’s elegant guestrooms comes with luxury amenities and the on-premise Round Table Room offers an excellent menu, while the Oak Room hosts top-rated dinner cabarets. Nightly stays at the hotel typically run upward of $400 per night but right now Orbitz is offering rooms for just $249.

Ramada Plaza New Yorker. If you book through Expedia you can get a night in this classic Art Deco hotel for a mere $139 (practically unheard for a Midtown lodging). The Ramada Plaza New Yorker is one of the city’s landmarks as it is instantly recognizable by its huge “New Yorker” roof sign, which is visible from a variety of spots around Manhattan. When the property opened back in 1929 it had 1,000 rooms and was considered the biggest hotel in the world. These days the hotel’s legendary high ceilings and huge chandeliers remain and guests would typically have to spend $250 a night to experience them. Which is why the $139 sale is a steal.

Belnord Hotel. If you are looking for a place to crash on the fashionable Upper West Side, but you don’t have Oprah’s checking account head over to the cozy Belnord Hotel. The property is known for its contemporary furnishings and its great location to Central Park. It’s not teeming with luxury amenities, but it’s clean and comfortable. You can choose between units with shared bath facilities or get a room with a private bathroom for a few dollars more. The hotel offers Internet access and laundry services… and don’t forget you’re staying in the heart of Manhattan all for just $89 per night! The offer is good only if you book through Hotels.com.
