Biggest Scrapbooking Mistakes – Memorabilia

Memorabilia is a must have in any album. Maps from the zoo, a brochure from the science center, an airplane ticket from our trip to New Zealand, it can all be included.

What happens when you realize you have too much memorabilia? Well there are several options. You can either pare it down yourself, choose what’s really important. Is it really necessary to include all the postcards and the three different brochures from your vacation? Or can you somehow separate your layouts into a more flowing creation, and include a piece of memorabilia per page? Can you try shrinking a flier or brochure? Maybe you could use a postcard on your layout in place of a photograph. You could also create pockets on your pages to hold an accumulation of items. There are all sorts of ways to include the different memorabilia. You can also try overlapping it on your cardstock to create a unique background made up of all the great items commemorating an event.

However, what do you do if you don’t have the memorabilia for a certain event?
I’ve tried several different things to replace missing memorabilia. The easiest way, is to write or call the place you wish you had the items from. More than likely they’d be happy to drop a brochure in the mail.

You can also visit hotel lobbies in the area and often they will have brochures on different places you might have visited.

If it was a school event, or perhaps a wedding that had a program you wish you still had, you might contact another guest or attendant and see if they have a copy. If they do, you can try scanning it and printing it or take it to the local copy shop.

It’s not the end of the world if you cannot use memorabilia in your album. In fact, not everyone does, so keep in mind that it’s alright. And try some of these pointers and see if they work for you.
