Birthday Layout Ideas

When planning a birthday layout, there are many things to consider including such as the cakes, guests, party activities, and birthday cards.

It is nice to be able to include the birthday cards that are received for a birthday on a birthday layout, by they would take up a lot of space if they were each attached to the page. One solution that I came up with was to create a pocket for the cards behind a photo mat. This is a great solution because the space can both display pictures and hold the cards in the pocket; the space does double duty.

Another challenge that usually occurs for me on birthday layouts is that I have too many pictures that I want to include. One this layout I was able in incorporate nine photos with room for more along the bottom boarder. If you wanted to include more that nine pictures, you could substitute party pictures for the stickers. I choose to include the stickers since Max had a Star Wars party and they helped reinforce the theme of the party.

I had fun with the journaling on this page. It was a chance to use some of my fun fonts and create a playful feeling. I typed out the journaling and then choose a few words that I thought were most important. Once I had chosen the words, I selected them and chose different fonts to highlight them.

The balance on this layout was important to consider since so many of the pictures were full of color and so much going on. On the left side of the layout I selected two photos that featured only Max and then one of Max with his birthday cupcakes. I kept open space so that the eyes would have a space to rest. The right side of the layout is busier, but I think that helps to share the mood of the party: fun and action-packed.

What are some ideas you have found to incorporate all of the important birthday events onto one layout?
