Black Friday is not Just for Christmas Shopping

Black Friday is the day after Thanksgiving when when department stores lose their proverbial minds and sell items at a loss to attract Christmas shoppers. This year will be no different. Target has gone over the deep end for the 2009 Black Friday Christmas shopping day. This year Target will be selling kitchen appliances including Chefmate coffeemakers, toasters, slow cookers, and sandwich makers for only $3.00.

Normally, I would not buy appliances for $3.00 for fear that they would fall apart in 30 days. However, because they are being sold on Black Friday 2009, I quickly realized that these small appliances would normally sell for $9.99 or more. (My educated guess.)

As much as I am not crazy about crowds and angry shopers, which is the norm for Black Friday, I will be taking advantage of a few $3.00 appliances. The thing is, I’m not buying them for Christmas. Sure, they would make great gifts for those extended family members who you normally give a card, but if you planned to give them a card, don’t let a good deal make you raise your Christmas shopping budget… just get the card. I will be scooping up as many $3.00 appliances as I am allowed to buy and putting them in my gift closet. I give give out these items and others found at Black Friday Christmas sales for weddings, bridal showers, anniversaries, and even birthday gifts for the right person.

In addition to putting some of the best Black Friday deals in my gift closet, I will also be examining my ‘wants and needs lists’ and taking advantage of Black Friday sales to get things I have been putting off. For example, my Toaster is toast. (pun intended) If I can replace it for $3.00, then there’s no reason not to replace it using Black Friday Deals.

In previous years my husband and I have purchased numerous things at Black Friday Sales that have nothing to do with Christmas gifts. We have purchased Televisions, computer printers, Clothing, and other items for immediate use rather than as Christmas gifts.

FYI, On Black Friday 2009, Target is also selling 27X52 bath towels for $1.50. It looks like I am finally replacing my old towels.
