Black Market Adoption

black market adoption Black market adoptions are an illegal practice. It usually involves the buying and selling of children and involves large sums of money.

It is a sad but true fact that babies and children are bought and sold nationwide. They are illegally placed with an adoptive family.

How do you know if your adoption was a Black Market Adoption?

If you are having trouble locating any information at all on your adoption, even after very careful research, it is possible some illegalities were involved.

In my own search, I found that some information was completely falsified, for instance my birth mother’s birth date. It was four years off. This isn’t actually a “black market adoption” situation, but it is illegal.

Other illegal concerns that those involved in a Black Market adoption do relate to falsifying or destroying identifying information.

If you suspect that your adoption might be a black market adoption there are still a few things you can do.

First, if adoptive parents will cooperate, that’s a great place to start. They usually will have files, or paperwork or even just knowledge of the whole situation and any parties that were involved.

More than likely, the adoptive parents have no idea that the adoption was a “black market” adoption, and are as clueless as the rest of the world. They were probably deceived along the way, have inaccurate background information on their child and were lied to numerous times.

I also recommend contacting the American Adoption Congress, 1000 Connecticut Ave. NW Suite 9, Washington DC 20036 or call them at 1-800-274-6736. They might be able to help you and give you some other resources to aid in this difficult search.

You might also consider contacting a support group. Typically their function will be to provide you with insight and direction to help you through the stages and hurdles you will face during a black market adoption search.

Whatever you do, don’t give up. Don’t hate your parents. Don’t think the world is against you. A successful reunion can still be made with a black market adoption. Especially if both parties are searching for each other, so don’t forget to register on the different reunion registry lists.

Most of all, good luck!
