Blue’s Big Musical Movie

We are fans of the lovable Blue from “Blue’s Clues.” Naturally, my daughter just had to have Blue’s first movie on DVD — “Blue’s Big Musical Movie.” In this movie, Blue, Steve, and all of their friends plans the perfect backyard musical show.

Blue and all of her friends are planning a big musical show in Steve’s backyard. Blue is supposed to have a big duet with Tickety Tock, but Tickety has laryngitis and can’t sing! Throughout all of the preparations for the show, Steve plays Blue’s Clues to figure out who Blue wants as her new singing partner.

Steve is trying to write a new song for the show but isn’t sure how to go about it. He happens to find a musical keyboard that helps him write the song. G-Clef, who inhabits this keyboard, is voiced by none other than the musical legend Ray Charles. Along with notes and chords, G-Clef helps Steve write a new song for the show. This was one of my daughter’s favorite DVDs when she first started watching “Blue’s Clues.” It was one of the first times she started repeating musical notes and song lyrics. She still sings along when she watches this DVD.

During the hustle and bustle of preparing for the show, Periwinkle tries to get Steve’s attention so that he can try out his act. When he finally shows Steve his magic performance, Steve informs him that it’s a music show, not a magic show. Even though Periwinkle is disappointed, he finds a way to contribute nonetheless.

Find out how Blue’s duet turns out when Steve solves Blue’s Clues and gets Blue a partner. You and your preschooler will enjoy this adventure, full of music, dancing, and fun!

There are a lot of special features on this DVD. A couple of music videos are available: “I Can Be Anything That I Want to Be” and “There It Is” let your preschooler dance along and have fun. There is a backstage featurette about “Blue’s Clues” and a guessing game called “Who Am I?” If you have a DVD-Rom, you can also pop this DVD into your drive and access a couple of games for your child.

“Blue’s Big Musical Movie” is available from most major retailers, including Barnes and Noble and Amazon.
