Live Raw by Mimi Kirk is a cook book, informational book, inspirational book, and life changing book. Life changing, however, only if you allow it. I have heard the praises of eating a vegan diet of raw foods and organic foods for quite some time. While, I jumped on the organic bandwagon for many reasons I have yet to jump on the raw foods or vegan bandwagon. My lack of jumping was not for lack of interest but for the inability to find the bandwagon and hitch a ride. That is until Live Raw.

Live Raw is on par for even the veganist vegan and rawest raw food expert yet paves the way for those interested in exploring this way of eating. Mimi Kirk explains why a raw food diet is beneficial to your health, which foods to buy organic due to high levels of pesticides and which are not so high, what minerals our bodies need and which foods provide the most health benefits for your eyes, hair, bones, etc. It is as if Mimi Kirk anticipated every question a beginner would have from how to prepare a raw food meal to where to buy the right supplies.

Once you are familiar with how food affects your body and the benefits of eating a raw food diet you will find recipes that are easy to follow and not intimidating for the newbie. I must admit I was lost on how to live a raw food lifestyle until this book. Now, I feel equipped to begin a new journey. While, I may not completely convert to raw foods or a vegan lifestyle I have a starting point for my own food concerns and how to begin living a new kind of lifestyle.
