Cartoon Scrapbooks

My young daughter is a huge fan of the new PBS children’s series, “The Cat in the Hat Knows A Lot About That!” Interestingly, she was never a huge fan of the “Cat in the Hat” books, but once she saw the cat come alive in the animated series, she was hooked.

All of a sudden she is all about the cat. She nearly fell over when she saw that Target is selling “Cat in the Hat” socks in their $1 bins and she just about ripped my arm off dragging me over to the aisle in the scrapbook store that sells Dr. Seuss supplies.

Needless to say, she is dying to create a “Cat in the Hat” scrapbook. Fortunately, EK Success, as well as several other reputable companies, offer Dr. Seuss-inspired scrapbook supplies. During our recent visit to the scrapbook store we found epoxy stickers, alphabet stickers, patterned paper, and an 8×8 mini album. In addition, there are also a variety of Dr. Seuss phrase stickers with quotes from “How the Grinch Stole Christmas!,” “Green Eggs and Ham,” “The Cat in the Hat,” “Oh, The Places You’ll Go!,” and “Horton Hears a Who!”

Some of my favorites include:

“And will you succeed? Yes! You will, indeed! (98 and 3/4 percent guaranteed.)” – Oh, The Places You’ll Go!

“From there to here, and here to there, funny things are everywhere.” – One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish

“A person’s a person, no matter how small.” – Horton Hears a Who!

In addition to the stickers, stamps and other embellishments, you can decorate your Dr. Seuss-inspired layouts with free fonts and clip art. Cyber Seuss is a great place to start. The website has a variety of images that can be downloaded for free.

Of course, “The Cat in the Hat” and other popular Dr. Seuss characters are not the only cartoons that can be added to scrapbooks. There are a host of animated characters that have inspired a litany of scrapbook supplies, including Snoopy and the rest of the Peanuts gang, Scooby Doo, Yogi Bear and Looney Tunes.
